Hey! have you heard about the game"Monster Hunter Portable 2nd G"? It is a game in japan that sells like crazy when it was released.It will be called"Monster Hunter Freedom Unite" in english, the other title is in japanese but translated. It is in japanese soo it would take awhile to reach the U.S. It would come out on the U.S. on sprong 2009. It is a really cool game and they say that it will come out on wii.

I don't have a PSP, but I've been hearing that it was selling like hot cakes on Japan...

What is is about?? What type of gameplay?? I looked at the wikipedia page, but it was more of a comparison to previous titles than a synopsis of what the game was.

It's an RPG game that the main character(you) does certain stuff like a monster hunter would do like gathering for materials like ore(metal,gems) bugs for improving weapons, defeat or capture certain monsters like a tigrex or a kugarex. then get materials from it like scales, pelts, claws, fangs, shells, bones, organs and hides. collect materials from a farm that the village where you live gave you like ore, bugs, plant herbs and other plants. create weapons and improve them.

there are 9 different weapons: Great sword, Long sword, sword & shield, dual swords, hammer, hunting horn, lance, gunlance, bow, bowgun(light and heavy). each has a unique characteristic and each strenght of the weapon depends on the user(you & other hunters)

Make armor form monsters like wyvern armor from a tigrex.(which is a very strong wyvern) you already have starting weapons and armor like the mafumofu set (very low defence but good at cold places) you can also get armor from the strongest of monsters like elder dragons, which is smarter than wyverns but there is a chance that it will escape you in battle because of the injuries it sustained. My file has the second strongest armor in the game that i got from a wyvern of mystery called "akantor".

You have a ranking called hunter ranking (HR for short). this ranking is determined by the skills of the hunter. to increase your hunter ranking, you must complete certain quests like gathering items, killing monsters, repel large dragons and many more. there are higher rankings in the new version, but i'm still trying to reach that rank on the new version.

Sorry, forgot to put the gameplay:

The gameplay is in third person view, just as shown on the link on the previous post. you have to aim your weapons manually with the analog stick. It takes awhile to master the aiming of weapons. if you are using a long-ranged weapon, you have to aim manually by holding the L button. you can check stats on the pause menu like your guild card(where your name, data ,achievements and awards are shown) you can check references on monsters and combining recipes like making a flash bomb out of bomb material and a flash bug(bug that emits a bright flash when it dies) it takes awhile to complete the references, but it's worth it.

Mostly,the game consists of hunting monsters. monsters differ from attacks and moves. There are different types of monsters:
Bird Wyverns, Wyverns, Primatius (like mamals) Dragons, Carapaceon (like crabs) neopteron( mostly non-agressive herbivores) and Piscines(wyverns living on water and sand). The hardest monsters are dragons, weakest are bird wyverns.

There are two types of modes: single player mode and online multiplayer mode.
single player mode: fight monsters alone offline
online multiplayer mode: play with up to 3 friends online by WLAN (wireless local area network) or by worldwide internet.
note: online mode is harder than offline mode because you fight with friends, making it more easy.

Wow, big explanation... However, I gave up on RPGs a long time ago. I do not longer have the time nor the patience to play them...

Now I'm very much restricted to a few action/adventure games or racing. I don't like FPS on consoles either since they are very hard to control (being used to Quake 3 and UT on the PC).

The games that I've enjoyed the most lately have been Uncharted: Drake's Fortune, Resident Evil 4 (Wii), God of War, GT5: Prologue and Assassins Creed (I haven't finished this one yet though). I also enjoy some casual games from time to time (Buzz: Quiz TV, SuperStarDust HD). But as I said, I usually don't have the time, so I rather play 10 hour single player games, where I can play a bit and stop, and I'm not rushed to play the first few months due to the online multiplayer options... That's why I want to get Dead Space next, and see if I like it.

It's alright... I just hope whoever else saw this likes the game.

In case if anyone didnt know, u can buy the japenese version at www.play-asia-.com , thats where I buy all my japenese games. The PSP isn't region locked so u dont have to mod your psp to play the game ^.^

I'm already at the level 6 stars at pokke village on the portable 2nd G. My Monster hunter freedom2, i've already defeated Akantor around seven times and I made the armor.
