I've noticed this for awhile now.. It seems that there are some doubled images in some anime series and some mispelled tags also.. The doubled images look like the same but it has different dimensions and different upload dates and the tags have one mispelled letter, making it an extra tag.. Example:

This image was uploaded 7 days ago.

and this image was uploaded 2 years ago.

on the tags is something like this:

This is the correct tag:
suzumiya haruhi no yuuutsu

and this is the mispelled tag:
suzumiya haruhi no yuuutsy

Can someone from the mods and from the admin fix this please. It might help the site a bit.

atm all we can do is validate and reject. and lord knows im not gonna check to see if another version of the pic is already up.
unless it's not an exact duplicate (the system picks up on that), these will have to be checked manually. so until IGC doesn't further the moderator module, it will be in his hands

but im with you on this, tags and names need to be perfect. so rest assured, once im able to, ill fix all of these

and yes, the higher resolution should win out (unless the resolution of your image is not one rendered by mine) and when IGC inputs the script that will create the smaller resolutions of images that dont have that yet, you will see a bunch of resolutions for the one that i uploaded. in cases where we have a 1920x1200 and a 1600x1200 image both will be kept because the former is widescreen and the latter isnt. also, if the Cyclone program is ever finished, it will be useful to have as many resolutions of a single image as possible in order to fit any persons screen.

as for the tags, i know, since most of those typos are mine. i was gonna ask IGC to input that into the admin module when he had time. its just that (i assume) he is working on the PM system and the forums (editing, BBC code, admin section, etc...) so i havent brought it up yet. it would be easy for me to go in and remove all of the typoed tags since i made most of them

i was planning on doing this once i had the power but also thought the editing of posts and the PM system was more important atm.

Let's put it this way guys:

Doubled images: If you are able to fix this (if IGC allows it) you guys will just remove the smaller resolution image and keep the better one, leaving the better one and losing the smaller one, even thought it may reduce the number of images in the gallery.

Mispelled tags: You guys can just remove the mispelled tag and just put the right tag for the image, therefore lessening the tags but with no more typos.

Let's wait for the decision of IGC on this one.

If the resolutions are different ratios (8:5 and 4) both images will stay, since they will fit different monitors. I will have to check the actual ratios of those two images and decide.
In any case, they can be merged into 1 image, will all the resolutions if in fact they are EXACTLY the same image. In some cases they look very similar but have subtle differences.

For the tags, I need to implement a way to easily edit those, but we don't have one right now. So for the moment being, they will remain as is...

well, it wasnt me that validated those images >_>

but i know why they were validated, and this might as well be a tip to charlie

due to the lag on the server, most images that have resolutions that need to be rendered (especially the images that will render 5 or 6 resolutions) wont completely render. as you can see on those images, not all the definitions are there as you can see on other 1600x1200 wallpapers. SO...if an image does not completely render all of the definitions, it appears back in the queue to be validated. when that image comes up the admin will see that it is already on the site, but not completely rendered. in an effort to correct this, the admin validates the image again....hence bringing up a second image.

so...if this happens again charlie...just delete the image that appears in the queue as long as the original resolution of the image appears on the site. IGC will finish the job when he completes his script to render all of the image resolutions on the site...

2+2=5 is right... and it is an issue with the limits on the new server....
