I think private messages will eliminate the need for this chat.

At first sight I thought it was kind of a shoutBox, where you can put a short comment and it will show on the front page, and maybe use it for short chat sessions, but it seems to be an individual chat to communicate with a single user, so PMs will serve that purpose and will eliminate the need of a chantago login/password.

No ETA at the moment... The backbone is set up, so we have the right tables on the database, but I have to create the php files to send the messages...

Chatango is sort of a shout box. If you put it on the front page anyone could just jump in and chat. I've seen it before and it seemed pretty neat. No need to register either if you don't want to. Just enter a name and you can jibber jabber. I just so happen to be registered under this name.

I had no idea that you were working on a pm system. Man, I am slow on the news. I can't wait to jibber-jabber with people, though..
