I was just wondering how soon people around here start to decorate their houses for festivities... It does not have to be those two, since not everyone celebrates them, but for whatever you celebrate in your country/cultures, when do you start?

A week ? Two weeks? A month? (I hope not more than that!)

I was curious, because Halloween is fast approaching (11 days) and there are some houses already decorated in my area... and of course most stores are selling decorations , even for Christmas, and that's still a couple months away.

here in Brazil we don't have the Halloween, but for the Christmas the people here used to decorate a month before the Xmas. Oh, I think that we can make banners for the Xmas and, if possible change something in the site... what do you think?

Halloween, nothing.

Christmas, somewhere between 5 December and Christmas. At least, that's how I do it at home. On the streets you can see it in November already in some towns and cities.

the day i saw xmas decorations before thanksgiving was a sad day. the day i saw xmas decorations before halloween, was surprisingly not unexpected. might as well carry them year round at this point. as for myself, my roomates and i were thinking of putting some cheap xmas lights around the room or on the railing outside but since we arent gonna be here over the winter break it would be anything much.

but, there will be plenty of parties to go to around the holidays

Here in Brazil, the xmas is on the summer, so, I usually have a xmas on the beach

Slovakia dont have Halloween but "saint's-day deceased" 1.XI & "saint's-day of all saint" 2.XI (that is free translate), but the world globalisation come to as and some people celebrate Halloween.
By me at home we make some decorating for Christmas on the beginning of Advent and the Christmas-tree one day before 24.XII.
