Server downtimes 2009-03-02 - 08:01:47
Hello everyone, As you have probably noticed, we've had some downtime. I have contacted the hosting company and apparently we are using too much resources on the shared server. Given the circumstances there are only a few things we can do: - Look for a new server - Upgrade to a Virtual Private Server - Keep going until they tell us enough is enough. After a couple moves in the last few months, I am really tired of moving and I'm sure that we would have the same issue wherever we go, so I wouldn't like to move. However, upgrading would be an increased cost of $40 a month, which is close to $500 a year (ouch!), so I really don't know what to do. Option 3 could work, but it might be a bit risky to wait until they shut us down completely and then we would have to scramble to have the site back up once again. So, I really don't know what to do... It seems that every time that we get comfortable with a hosting, something goes wrong and we have to fight to keep the site going.	Comments (4) Viewed 312 times

Option #2: Upgrade.
As I type this, there are 45 users online. I think we could spare a buck or two a month to help you out. If any of us are worth our level (excluding me, I am still new here) support for this site would be both an honor and an obligation. But maybe my mouth is too big and I should speak only for myself. However, if it is a fight that you want, then lets give'em hell. Or money. Even the noob is down for it.
My computer at home is down and my office one will not allow such transactions but I'll start donating whenever I can.

Hehehe. Thanks for the support.

It has not gotten to the point where I would ask for donations to cover up all the server costs.
We have a button for donations set up, but it was just in case someone wanted to help. You shouldn't feel obligated at all.

I'm ready to support the hosting a bit too.
And I think a lot of people would donate a buck or two to save this website.

I just joined today *a minute ago in fact* I'll help out. most of my money goes to animal abuse charities but I'll keep aside whatever i can *just wish the dollar/rand exchange didn't hurt so much*
