Death Note is a manga series created by writer Tsugumi Ohba and manga artist Takeshi Obata. It was first serialized in Weekly Shōnen Jump from December 2003 to May 2006. The series was adapted into three live-action films, and a 37-episode anime series aired in Japan from October 2006 to June 2007. A light novel based on the series, written by Nisio Isin, was also released in Japan. Additionally, various video games have been published by Konami for the Nintendo DS.

Summary: Light Yagami is an ace student with great prospects - and he's bored out of his mind. But all that changes when he finds the Death Note, a notebook dropped by a rogue god of death named Ryuk. Any human whose name is written in the notebook dies, and now Light has vowed to use the power of the Death Note to rid the world of evil. But when criminals start dropping dead, the authorities send the legendary detective L to track down the killer, and a battle of wits, deception and logic ensues...
